UT Austin is somewhat unique in its auto-admit process: any Texas high schooler that graduates in the top 6% of their class is GUARANTEED admission into UT Austin’s next graduating class. The state of Texas also mandates that UT Austin have no more than 25% of its undergraduate population be from out-of-state. Because of this, the out-of-state acceptance rate is generally significantly lower than the in-state acceptance rate. https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/news-and-multimedia/correspondence/taa-letters/the-university-of-texas-at-austin-automatic-admission-policy-2#:~:text=The University has determined that,be filled through holistic review.

For the class of 2024, IvyWise published estimates for the “true” non-auto admit and non-athlete acceptance rate for both in-state and out-of-state applicants. They stated that, although the school posted their acceptance rate as 31.8%, the “true” non-auto admit in-state rate was ~10.3% and its out-of-state rate was ~8.0%.

According to IvyWise, UT Austin has still not released their acceptance rate for the class of 2027. I’ve used the 2026 acceptance rate instead.
